An attic apartment to call home

For this attic apartment, we started with a blank canvas: imagining how to furnish it and how to use its different spaces.

The wooden ceiling and exposed beams already gave the home a strong character. My aim was to make the space feel lighter, bringing out the warmth of the wood and making the most of the available daylight.

I chose light-coloured furniture, fabrics in gentle shades and rounded shapes. The oval table, curved chairs and soft sofa make the rooms more inviting and balance the strong lines of the beams.

Alongside these pieces, items with a lived-in feel, such as the old trunk used as a coffee table, add character. These details give a home personality and make it unique.

The layout plays its part too: A lightweight curtain creates a cosy sleeping nook, while open shelves, baskets and storage boxes help organise belongings without making the rooms feel crowded. There is also space to work and roll out a yoga mat.

Lighting in different corners supports everyday activities and creates a cosy atmosphere in the evening.

And then there are the plants: They bring nature indoors and add life to the rooms. We choose them to suit the available light and the time we can give to their care, even without green fingers. A little tip? Set a reminder on your phone to check whether they need water.

The result is a warm, personal home, with spaces designed for everyday living.
